At Shen-Valley Masonry, we build character along with walls...

Our team is strongly committed to the belief that educating our youth today creates a more

productive tomorrow for us all.  To strengthen this belief, in partnership with the Virginia Department

of Labor and our local technical schools, we have developed a brick/block mason apprenticeship

and a work-in-training program to provide career options for teens in our area.

It is our hope that these options will enable students to make positive real-life decisions about their future.

Our work-in-training program in action: Massanutten Technical

Center students Matt Price and Andy Shoemaker on a jobsite.

Our registered Apprenticeship Program allows employees to have to opportunity of on the job

training from skilled masons during the workday, and in the evening, attending classes at

Massanutten Technical Center.  Classes are approved by the Department of Labor and range from

Architectural Drawing and Blueprint Reading to Industrial Health and Safety and Supervisory Skills

among others.  Upon successful completion of the program, the apprentice receives a Brick/Block Mason

journeyman's card from the Department of Labor and Shen-Valley Masonry, Inc.

In Shen-Valley's Work-In-Training program, high school students work under the supervision

of some of the finest mason craftsmen in our area, learning additional skills on the jobsite in conjunction

with their regular classroom training.  We are proud to be able to work together with such dedicated

teachers such as Mr. Dave Suba of Massanutten Technical Center in Harrisonburg, VA and

Mr. Gordon Follin of Triplett Tech School in Mount Jackson, VA.  Together we hope to inspire our

promising young masons toward a goal of quality workmanship and pride in their achievements.
